How to Choose the Right Automatic Card Feeder for Your Packaging Line
A practical checklist for selecting a friction or suction card feeder — covering card type, speed, detection, and integration.
Start with your card spec
Card feeders handle CR80, game cards, gift cards, ID cards and instruction sheets from 0.1 mm to 3 mm. Measure the exact thickness range, surface finish (gloss / matte / laminated) and whether the card is porous. Friction feeders need a stable friction surface; coated or very slick cards may need vacuum assistance.
Match speed to your line
Servo-driven CHANFER card feeders reach up to 500 sheets/min for CR80 cards. Size your feeder to the bottleneck: a flow wrapper running 200 packs/min needs a feeder comfortably above that, not at the limit.
Don't skip missing-card and double-feed detection
Automatic missing-card, double-feed and wrong-position detection with alarm and shutdown protects your brand and your customer. This is non-negotiable for trading-card and pharmaceutical inserts.
Plan for changeover
Recipe-based setup cuts changeover to 3–5 minutes. If you run multiple SKUs, store parameters per job and switch with a tap instead of re-mechanical tuning.
Confirm integration
Verify signals and mechanics with your flow wrapper, cartoner, shrink wrapper or conveyor. CHANFER feeders interface via PLC and photoelectric sensors for seamless hand-off.
